Casting Updates for ‘The Running Man’, ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ & ‘Lanterns’

Three highly-anticipated projects have added more stars to their casts.

Up first, via The Hollywood Reporter, Edgar Wright‘s The Running Man has added William H. Macy to its ever-growing cast. Macy will play a man who assists protagonist Ben Richards (Glen Powell) when he’s on the run. The Shameless alum joins an ensemble that includes Josh Brolin, Katy O’Brian, and Michael Cera, among others.

The rest of the casting news pertains to James Gunn’s DC Universe, which is finally picking up steam after two years in development. The upcoming Lanterns, an HBO series centered around the Green Lantern Corps, has added Kelly Macdonald to its cast as an original character. Comic book fans can @ me down in the comments if there’s a Sheriff Kerry in the Green Lantern comics, but I don’t think there is.

Per Deadline, Macdonald will play “Sheriff Kerry, a no-nonsense woman deeply devoted to her family and close-knit town. Her resilience, shaped by a complex past that’s hardened her resolve, anchors her when the community’s secrets begin to surface.” The character is believed to be a potential love interest for Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan.

Finally, 3 Body Problem actor Eve Ridley has landed the part of Ruthye Mary Knolle in DC Studios and Warner Bros.‘ Craig Gillespie-directed Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. In the 2022 comic book that the upcoming movie is based on, Knolle is “a noble and honorable warrior who travels across the galaxy with Supergirl to hunt Krem for killing her father in cold blood.” Ridley joins a cast that includes Milly Alcock as Supergirl and Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem.

That’s all for now.
