Check Out Taika Waititi’s Satirical Take on Hitler in the New ‘Jojo Rabbit’ Trailer

The other day, Fox Searchlight released the first teaser trailer for Taika Waititi’s new satirical film, set in Nazi Germany, Jojo Rabbit and it looks like it’s going to be just as good as any of his previous films to date. Take a look.

The darkly comedic story follows a young German boy during the second world war who embraces Nazi ideology, only to learn that his mother hiding a Jewish girl in the walls of their house. The film is based on the novel Caging Skies by the New Zealand-Belgian author Christine Leunens.

Plot Synopsis:

Writer director Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), brings his signature style of humor and pathos to his latest film, Jojo Rabbit a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy JoJo (Roman Griffin Davis) whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi), Jojo must confront his blind nationalism.

 

Jojo Rabbit hits theaters October 18, 2019.
