‘Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers’ Trailer: You Can’t Tell Me This Isn’t a ‘Roger Rabbit’ Spin-off

Walt Disney Studios has released an official trailer for Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, a loose sequel to the popular children’s cartoon of the same name. Let’s take a look.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but… this looks fun. I’m digging the meta-commentary and you cannot convince me otherwise that this is not a stealth Who Framed Roger Rabbit sequel/spin-off.

I’m actually looking forward to this and I definitely did not care about this property until the trailer. So, well done, trailer editors, you got me.

John Mulaney and Andy Samberg voice Chip and Dale. They are joined by a cast that includes KiKi Layne, Will Arnett, Eric Bana, Dennis Haysbert, Keegan-Michael Key, J.K. Simmons, Chris Parnell, and Seth Rogen.

Plot Synopsis:

In Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Chip and Dale are living amongst cartoons and humans in modern-day Los Angeles, but their lives are quite different now. It has been decades since their successful television series was canceled, and Chip (voice of Mulaney) has succumbed to a life of suburban domesticity as an insurance salesman. Dale (voice of Sandberg), meanwhile, has had CGI surgery and works the nostalgia convention circuit, desperate to relive his glory days. When a former cast mate mysteriously disappears, Chip and Dale must repair their broken friendship and take on their Rescue Rangers detective personas once again to save their friend’s life.

Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers begins streaming May 20, 2022 on Disney+.
