Amazon MGM Studios has finally found Chris Hemsworth a co-star for Subversion.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Lily James has joined the submarine thriller in a key role. Described as a “Die Hard on a submarine”-style thriller, Subversion follows a once-promising naval commander (Hemsworth) who is blackmailed by a cartel-like organization into piloting a dangerous submarine carrying illegal cargo across international waters. Thrust into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse with a Coast Guard officer (James) in hot pursuit, the commander must outmaneuver blockades and navigate perilous threats both inside and outside the submarine.
Patrick Vollrath is directing from a screenplay written by Andrew Ferguson. Production is slated to begin in September in Australia.
James is best known for portraying the title Disney Princess in the studio’s 2015 live-action remake of Cinderella and for her roles in Downton Abbey, Baby Driver, Yesterday, The Iron Claw, and Pam & Tommy. Up next for the actor is the Cliffhanger reboot.
A release date for Subversion has not yet been announced.
