‘Highlander’ Remake Drops First Look at Henry Cavill as Filming Begins

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Almost five years after being cast as Connor MacLeod, a first look at Henry Cavill in the forthcoming Highlander remake has finally been shared.

Principal photography has begun in Scotland on Highlander, which will be directed by Chad Stahelski. To mark the occasion, Cavill shared a first look at the fantasy action movie on Instagram.

“Happy First Look for Highlander! This has been quite the journey for me, which I’ll tell you all about when the time is right, but it’s a special moment to be able to share this. I hope you enjoy,” the caption for the post read, which included two first-look images that can be found above and below.

Production on Highlander was originally supposed to begin last year, but was delayed after Cavill was injured during prep for the film.

Starring alongside Cavill in the remake are Russell Crowe as Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, Karen Gillan as Heather MacLeod, Djimon Hounsou as Sunda Kastagir, Dave Bautista as The Kurgan, and Jeremy Irons as the leader of The Watchers. Marisa Abela, Kevin McKidd, and Max Zhang round out the ensemble.

Michael Finch and Kerry Williamson wrote the script. Amazon MGM Studios will distribute Highlander in theaters. A release date has not been set yet.
