‘Cyrano’ Trailer: Have You Ever Loved Someone?

MGM Studios has released an official trailer for Cyrano, an upcoming musical drama from director Joe Wright. The film is based on Erica Schmidt‘s stage musical of the same name.

Let’s take a look.

“Children need love. Adults need money.” Goddamn, if that ain’t true.

If you’re wondering why the film bares some resemblance to the Steve Martin comedy Roxanne that’s because both films are based on the same source material. If Edmond Rostand was still alive, his 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac would be making him some serious money.

Peter Dinklage, as usual, looks great in this, so I’ll definitely be checking this one out.

Plot Synopsis:

Award-winning director Joe Wright envelops moviegoers in a symphony of emotions with music, romance, and beauty in Cyrano, re-imagining the timeless tale of a heartbreaking love triangle. A man ahead of his time, Cyrano de Bergerac (played by Peter Dinklage) dazzles whether with ferocious wordplay at a verbal joust or with brilliant swordplay in a duel. But, convinced that his appearance renders him unworthy of the love of a devoted friend, the luminous Roxanne (Haley Bennett), Cyrano has yet to declare his feelings for her — and Roxanne has fallen in love, at first sight, with Christian (Kelvin Harrison, Jr.).

Cyrano hits theaters December 31, 2021.
