‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ Trailer: Don’t Get the Cheese Touch!

Disney has released an official trailer for Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The upcoming animated film acts as a reboot of the film franchise and as a more faithful remake of the first book in the long-running children’s book series. Let’s take a look.

Well, at the very least, they’ve nailed being faithful to the illustrations from the books. They have done a good job taking 2D black-and-white drawings and turning them into 3D colored animation.

That said, The Peanuts Movie from a few years ago did a much better job of bringing the original art style to a CG template. But I cannot compare Diary of a Wimpy Kid to The Peanuts Movie too much since The Peanuts Movie is excellent.

This will surely be fun to watch and nothing more.

Plot Synopsis:

Greg Heffley is a scrawny but ambitious kid with an active imagination and big plans to be rich and famous – he just has to survive middle school first. To make matters worse, Greg’s lovable best friend Rowley seems to coast through life and succeed at everything without even trying! As details of his hilarious – and often disastrous – attempts to fit in fill the pages of his journal, Greg learns to appreciate true friends and the satisfaction that comes from standing up for what is right.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid begins streaming December 3, 2021 on Disney+.
