Next ‘Fast and Furious’ Movie Gets Official Title & Release Date

Reading Time: 2 minutes

It’s time for Vin Diesel to race his final quarter-mile.

Per VarietyUniversal has officially set a March 17, 2028 release date for Fast & Furious 11, which is now also officially titled Fast Forever.

Franchise star and producer Diesel shared the news on Instagram, posting a photo of himself with the late Paul Walker from the original film, 2001’s The Fast and the Furious. Diesel captioned the post: “No one said the road would be easy… but it’s ours. One that has defined us and become our legacy… And a legacy… lasts forever.”

Fast Forever is now set to arrive roughly five years after its predecessor, 2023’s Fast X, which was billed as the first installment in a two-part finale for the action franchise. The final minutes of Fast X saw Dom driving down the side of a dam and into the water below, as he and his son, Little Brian, race to escape a trap set by the villainous Dante (Jason Momoa), who arms a series of bombs. Then the movie cuts to black.

Fast X also featured two credit scenes, which teased the returns of Dwayne Johnson Hobbs and Gal Gadot, the latter of whom’s character was believed to be dead, to the franchise.

Louis Leterrier will return to direct Fast Forever. Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel are co-writing the screenplay. Plot details remain under wraps for Fast Forever, with reports hinting that Universal and Diesel have shifted away from the idea of the movie serving as a direct continuation of Fast X. How the movie will get away with that, considering that X ended with everybody seemingly dying, remains to be seen.

We’ll keep you posted.
