Focus Features has released an official teaser trailer for Hamnet. The upcoming historical drama serves as Chloé Zhao‘s first directorial effort since helming Marvel Studios’ 2021 film Eternals. Let’s take a look.
Based on Maggie O’Farrell’s 2020 novel of the same name, Hamnet stars Jessie Buckley as Agnes Shakespeare, Paul Mescal as William Shakespeare, Joe Alwyn as Bartholomew, Emily Watson as Mary Shakespeare, Jacobi Jupe as Hamnet Shakespeare, Jack Shalloo as Marcellus, and David Wilmot as John.
Plot Synopsis:
From Academy Award-winning writer/director Chloé Zhao, Hamnet tells the powerful story of love and loss that inspired the creation of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, Hamlet.
Hamnet opens in limited theaters on November 27, 2025, before expanding wide on December 12, 2025.
