
The Harry Potter reboot series has found most of its adult cast.
HBO has finally confirmed the castings for the reboot’s Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape, and Rubeus Hagrid, with John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, and Nick Frost set to play the characters, respectively, as series regulars.
Additionally, Luke Thallon and Paul Whitehouse have been cast in the recurring roles of Quirinus Quirrel and Argus Filch, respectively.
In a statement, executive producers Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod had the following to say about the castings:
“We are happy to announce the casting of John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, Nick Frost, Luke Thallon and Paul Whitehouse to play Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape, Hagrid, Quirrell and Filch. We’re delighted to have such extraordinary talent onboard, and we can’t wait to see them bring these beloved characters to new life.”
The upcoming series adaptation, billed as a “faithful adaptation of the beloved Harry Potter book series by author and executive producer J.K. Rowling,” will air on HBO and stream exclusively on Max. Gardiner also serves as head writer and showrunner of Harry Potter, with Mylod set to direct multiple episodes.
