‘Hillbilly Elegy’ Trailer: Glenn Close & Amy Adams Want That Oscar

Netflix has released an official trailer for Hillbilly Elegy, starring Oscar nominated actresses Glenn Close and Amy Adams. And if Netflix has its way, this might be the movie that turns them into winners.

This looks pretty damn good. Close and Adams are two actresses that disappear into their roles, and Hillbilly Elegy looks like another example of that.

Fun fact: The two together have 13 Academy Award nominations. Why were we so concerned about Leonardo DiCaprio winning an Oscar when these two have been working just as hard?

Also, whoever is playing the younger version of J.D. Vance looks pretty damn close facial wise to Gabriel Basso. I just found that impressive and worth pointing out.

Plot Synopsis:

J.D. Vance (Gabriel Basso), a former Marine from southern Ohio and current Yale Law student, is on the verge of landing his dream job when a family crisis forces him to return to the home he’s tried to forget. J.D. must navigate the complex dynamics of his Appalachian family, including his volatile relationship with his mother Bev (Amy Adams), who’s struggling with addiction. Fueled by memories of his grandmother Mamaw (Glenn Close), the resilient and whip-smart woman who raised him, J.D. comes to embrace his family’s indelible imprint on his own personal journey.

Hillbilly Elegy hits select theaters and Netflix November 24, 2020.
