Jon Bernthal is officially heading to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Daredevil: Born Again.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Bernthal will reprise the role of Frank Castle / The Punisher in the upcoming Disney+ series, which recently began production in New York in February 2023. The actor previously played the Marvel antihero in the Netflix Daredevil series as well as a solo spinoff series.
Bernthal marks the third Netflix/Marvel actor after Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock / Daredevil) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk / Kingpin) to officially join the MCU proper (“It’s all connected” but not unless Feige says so, amirite?).
Marvel Studios is going all in on Born Again with an 18-episode first season. Additional cast members include Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Sandrine Holt, and Nikki M. James. However, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, who played Karen Page and Foggy Nelson, respectively, in all three seasons of Netflix’s Daredevil, are not expected to return in Born Again.
Daredevil: Born Again will premiere on Disney+ in Spring 2024.
