Kevin Smith Returns to His Roots With ‘The 4:30 Movie’ Trailer

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Saban Films has released an official trailer for Kevin Smith‘s newest film The 4:30 Movie. And I gotta say it looks like it could be enjoyable.

Say what you want about Kevin Smith’s movies, especially over the last handful of years, but I do like that he’s tried to shake things up. Sure they haven’t been all successful attempts, but at least he’s trying.

I thought Clerks III was a solid attempt and closing out a trilogy no one ever expected to get. Tusk was a weird one but has some great performances in it. No, not the Johnny Depp role but the others were very good. It’s just a weird movie to sit through. Yoga Hosers was unwatchable if you ask me. Hell, even Jay and Silent Bob Reboot was fun for the most part.

But anyway, it’s cool that he’s trying something a little more approachable if you ask me. I like that it’s a bit more like a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age period dramedy like Adventureland or The Way Way Back, but also feels a bit like Porky’s or Revenge of the Nerds.

The film stars Austin Zajur (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark), Nicholas Cirillo (Outer Banks), Reed Northrup (High Maintenance), and Siena Agudong (Resident Evil). And let’s not forget all the cameos in there. You’ve got Adam Pally, Kate Micucci, Diedrich Bader, Rachel Dratch, and Ken Jeong, and various Smith regulars like Rosario Dawson, Jason Biggs, Jason Lee, Justin Long, Harley Quinn Smith, and Jason Mewes.

Plot Synopsis:

Writer-director Kevin Smith presents his most personal film to date with this coming-of-age story — set in the summer of 1986 — that follows three sixteen-year-old friends, who spend their Saturdays sneaking into movies at the local cineplex.

The 4:30 Movie hits theaters on September 19, 2024.
