The First ‘Clerks III’ Trailer Needs More Weed

Earlier today Lionsgate released the first official trailer for Kevin Smith‘s Clerks III. Take a look at the long-awaited return to slacker movie series now.

Say what you want about Kevin Smith’s later filmography, but I enjoyed Clerks II. And this feels like a solid extension of both that and the original film. This time around Randal suffer a near-fatal heart attack, and team up with his hetero life-mate Dante to make a movie about their time working at the Quick Stop. Well, I’m in. Snootchie bootchies.

The plot is clearly inspired by Smith’s own life, where he suffered a heart attack in 2018 just hours after filming a stand-up special and began re-evaluating his priorities in life. That’s one of the things I like about Smith. He draws from real life experiences and puts them to film. It helps people see something they can totally relate to.

Plot Synopsis:

“Randal has a heart attack, decides that he came so close to death, and his life has meant nothing, there’s nobody to memorialize him, he has no family or anything like that,” Smith said. “And in the recovery, while under fentanyl, he comes to the conclusion at mid-life, having almost died, having worked in a movie store his whole life and watched other people’s movies, he tells Dante, I think we need to make a movie. So Dante and Randal make Clerks. That’s the story of Clerks III.

Clerks III hits theaters this Fall or you can see it with Kevin Smith when Clerks III: The Convenience Tour rolls into a city near you. Grab tickets at Clerks3.movie.
