Movie Madness Tournament: Best of the 2010s Championship

It’s finally here! SAW’s 1st Annual Movie Madness Tournament to determine what is the best movie of the 2010s. The process was started almost a year ago in order to decide the best of the best films from the past decade. Films were graded by an intricate scoring system in order to eliminate bias and subjectivity to help find the best field of 64 films we could gather. We also had five vote in polls where you guys helped select the remaining films. Seeds and matchups are the only places where subjectivity came into play to help spread the movies out to avoid certain genres from being piled together.

The process is easy. Click on the official voting ballot below, vote for each matchup in round two and submit your form. Voting for the Championship ends Saturday, April 11th at 11:59 pm CST. Check back on Sunday, April 12th to see who is the champion!

The Road to the Championship

#1 seed Mad Max: Fury Road has simply steamrolled all it’s competitors to win the Miller Region and make the Final Four. Fury Road ripped through the first two rounds by ripping through #16 The Wailing and #9 The Grand Budapest Hotel like they weren’t even there. In the 3rd round, it has its first somewhat of a challenge when #4 Whiplash was able to manage a few votes but ultimately was crushed. #3 12 Years a Slave was no match for Fury Road in the Elite Eight round as it only garnered 5% of the votes. Mad Max was again able to smash its competition in #6 Inception 75% to 25%.

#10 Once Upon a Time in Hollywood barely escaped each of the first three rounds by winning by only a few votes each time. Barely squeaking by #7 Under the Skin, #2 Get Out, and #3 Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse led it to the Elite Eight where it finally had an easy win over #9 Drive. Tarantino’s film was able to find a way once again by taking down a mighty foe in #3 Parasite. Will it be able to slay mighty Goliath in the championship to be considered the best movie of the 2010s?
