Olivia Colman Takes the Throne in ‘The Crown’ Season 3 Teaser Trailer

Netflix has recently released a teaser trailer for season 3 of The Crown. It gives us a good look at Olivia Colman in the titular role, as she takes over for Claire Foy, who won a Golden Globe and an Emmy for playing the young queen.

I’ve only seen a handful of episodes of the show, but what I saw I enjoyed. My wife has really liked it all so far and since we are both fans of Colman from her role in Broadchurch. So I’ll probably watch more. It will be interesting to see the new ensemble that was recast to reflect the passage of time.

In addition to Colman, Tobias Menzies takes over the role of Prince Philip, previously played by Matt SmithHelena Bonham Carter steps into Vanessa Kirby‘s shoes as Princess Margaret, and Ben Daniels will play Antony Armstrong-Jones, originated by Matthew Goode in season 2.

Plot Synopsis:

The Crown traces the life of Queen Elizabeth II from her wedding in 1947 through to the present day. Season three will cover Harold Wilson’s time as Prime Minister, the Aberfan disaster, the Apollo 11 moon landing, the 1969 Investiture of Prince Charles, the decolonization of Africa and the Caribbean, and Princess Margaret’s eight-year affair with baronet and gardening expert Roddy Llewellyn that leads to the Princess’s divorce from Antony Armstrong-Jones in 1978.

Season 3 of The Crown arrives on Netflix on November 17, 2019.
