‘Pacific Rim: The Black’ Trailer: The Kaiju Have Won

Netflix has released a full trailer for Pacific Rim: The Black. The series looks like it will be set sometime after the events of the second film.

There looks to be a nice human element and, while I’ve never been a fan of the anime style, it looks pretty good here. Could this be exactly what the Pacific Rim franchise needed to survive into the 2020s? I guess we’ll have to find out. But I have to say that despite not being a fan of the two films (because I’ve never watched them) this trailer did a good job of making me interested.

Dammit, does that mean I’m going to have to binge the films now before this begins streaming? Curse you, Netflix.

Plot Synopsis:

There was a time when Kaiju rose from the Pacific Rim only to encounter gigantic robots, Jaegers, built to fight them back. That time has passed. Now, Australia has been overrun by Kaiju, forcing the evacuation of an entire continent. Left behind, teenage siblings Taylor and Hayley embark on a desperate search for their missing parents, teaching themselves to pilot a battered, long-abandoned Jaeger to help in their quest and give them even the slightest hope of surviving.

Pacific Rim: The Black begins streaming March 4, 2021.
