Paramount Wants to Acquire Warner Bros. Discovery

The dust hasn’t even settled on the recent merger between Paramount and Skydance, but already the new entity has set its sights on its first major acquisition.

First reported by The Wall Street Journal and confirmed by Deadline, Paramount Skydance is preparing a bid to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. “[David] Ellison has been looking at Warner Bros for a while,” an individual close to Paramount brass told Deadline. “Nothing new there, he’s just taking a closer look, assessing the pros and cons.”

Warner Bros. being acquired by Paramount would see the end of yet another major movie studio. 20th Century Fox used to be considered one of the biggest film studios in the world until it was acquired by Disney in 2019. It’s unclear exactly what would happen if Paramount got its hands on Warner Bros. and its massive film library, but man, who’d have thought Paramount would one day be in a position to buy Warner Bros.?

We’ll keep you posted to see if Paramount Skydance’s interest in WB doesn’t fade away.
