Man is always able to find an enemy in this world. Usually it is with another person or group where they are at odds over something. However, one of man’s most formidable foes is none other than nature itself. Whether it’s the harsh elements of one extreme or the other, fighting off natives or wild animals, or simply rapey hillbillies, Man vs Nature films always show a greater external and internal struggle.

Some of the best films of this sub-genre do an excellent job of showing the physical side of this struggle with solid performances that help us wonder what it is like to be in that characters shoes. I’m perfectly fine experiencing all this from the comfort of my theater chair or recliner. Below is our rankings of some of the best Man vs Nature films.
