Someone has to keep these rogue cops in line even though they are just working hard and solving the crimes despite receiving any help. The angry police captain is a trope popularized in 80s action movies and became a staple in most cop movies. Even though their screen time was brief at times, many would leave an indelible mark on the viewers once the case was solved and the credits started rolling.
