One location and closed room movies are usually an effective setting to tell a story and build tension when done right. The horror and thriller genres have made this their bread and butter go to maneuver over the years. We decided to list some of our favorite movies from this sub-genre with a variety of films from past and present. We kept our choices to movies that were confined mainly to one central location for most of the movie. As you can see from our list, this type of movie has been successfully around for decades. As much as this type of setting can be used for tension, it can also be used for hilarity like in the movies Clue and The Breakfast Club. The confined areas just add to the humor of their situations as a thriller adds to its dread.
