First off, if you are one of those pretentious snobs who are going say “I don’t turn my brain off for any movie”, just shut up, go away and no one likes you.
Turn your brain off movies can fall into two categories. One of those would be the movies you have to completely strip away all logic and not ask questions to enjoy. Thinking too hard about plot details or continuity issues can hamper your enjoyment of these films. Usually, mindless action movies where it’s impossible for this one guy to take on an entire army but come out on top without a scratch. You know like Commando. That is some great stuff right there that would be tough to enjoy if you questioned it too much.
The other category, and the one I went with, are the movies you have seen a million times and just throw it on because you don’t want to have to pay attention to it. You know every line and detail already and you are not in the mood for something new. I like to call these “fall asleep movies”. I have to go to bed with the TV on and I need something like one of these movies to help me fall asleep or I’ll be up all night.
