DC fans aren’t the only ones who are frustrated by The Batman Part II‘s filming delays.

During a conversation with his Mickey 17 co-star Naomi Ackie for Hero Magazine, Robert Pattinson remarked that his “young Batman” is going to be a “fucking old Batman” by the time the sequel to 2022’s The Batman begins filming. Here’s his full quote, which came after Ackie asked him if Part II was happening soon:

“I fucking hope so. [laughs] I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be fucking old Batman by the sequel.”

Following the critical and commercial success of The Batman, Warner Bros. and writer/director Matt Reeves announced in April 2022 that a sequel had been greenlit, with Pattinson set to return as Bruce Wayne / Batman. Colin Farrell is also expected back as Oz Cobb / Penguin, as are Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.

DC Studios is reportedly waiting on a script from Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin. Reeves taking his sweet time with The Batman Part II script has led to the sequel being pushed back on the release calendar not once but twice. Originally announced with an October 2025 release date, the DC sequel was first delayed to October 2026 before landing on its current October 1, 2027 release date.
