The live-action Tangled remake has just taken a major step forward.
According to The Hollywood Reporter (and confirmed shortly after on social media by Disney), Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim will star as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in the upcoming live-action remake.
Croft is a rising Australian actor who is best known for playing Raven in the HBO Max/DC series Titans. Younger Disney fans will recognize Manheim from his various appearances on the Disney Channel, including as a lead player in the Zombies franchise. Is Disney taking notice of actors like Zac Efron and Austin Butler, who are finding mainstream success after their days on the Disney Channel, and hoping to turn Manheim into the next box office draw?
Michael Gracey, whose previous credits include Better Man and The Greatest Showman, is directing Tangled. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge, Thor: Love and Thunder) wrote the script.
Mother Gothel will be the next role cast. Scarlett Johansson was at one point in negotiations for the villainous role, but that’s no longer the case. Might I suggest Kathryn Hahn, Disney?
