‘The Blackening’ Trailer: We Can’t All Die First

Lionsgate has released an official trailer for The Blackening, an upcoming comedy horror film directed by Tim Story. Let’s take a look.

I love a horror film that isn’t afraid to play with (and/or call out) the genre’s tropes. I’m not sure if I’ll head to the theaters to see this, but if its on streaming by October I’ll add it to my watchlist.

The Blackening stars Grace Byers, Jermaine Fowler, Melvin Gregg, X Mayo, Dewayne Perkins, Antoinette Robertson, Sinqua Walls, Jay Pharoah, and Yvonne Orji.

Plot Synopsis:

The Blackening centers around a group of Black friends who reunite for a Juneteenth weekend getaway only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer. Forced to play by his rules, the friends soon realize this ain’t no motherf****** game.

The Blackening opens in theaters on June 16, 2023.
