The cast of Peacock‘s upcoming series remake of The ‘Burbs has grown.
According to Variety, Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense), RJ Cyler (The Harder They Fall), Justin Kirk (Weeds), Kyrie McAlpin (Will Trent), Danielle Kennedy (Narcos), and Randy Oglesby (For All Mankind) have been added as recurring guest stars on the series, which is based on the 1989 film starring Tom Hanks.
The series adaptation of The ‘Burbs received a straight-to-series order from Peacock in September 2024. Keke Palmer is headlining the remake, which will also star Jack Whitehall, Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar.
Per the official logline, The ‘Burbs is set in the present day and “follows a young couple who have reluctantly relocated to the husband’s childhood home. Their world is upended when a new neighbor moves in across the street bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.”
The ‘Burbs is written by Celeste Hughey. Nzingha Stewart will direct the first episode. Both will executive produce alongside Brian Grazer, who produced the 1989 film, and Seth MacFarlane, among others. Dana Olsen, who wrote the original film, serves as co-executive producer. The series will be shot at the Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles, where the film was also shot.
The original 1989 film has become something of a cult classic in the years since its release and was even mentioned in a recent Dhalhouse video as an example of the types of “fun escapism” movies Hollywood used to make.
The ‘Burbs does not have a release window yet but will stream exclusively on Peacock.
