‘The Exorcist: Believer’ Trailer Features the Return of Ellen Burstyn’s Chris MacNeil

Universal has released an official trailer for The Exorcist: Believer, an upcoming direct sequel to the 1973 horror classic, The Exorcist. Let’s take a look.

Please don’t start pelting me with tomatoes after I say this, but I haven’t seen The Exorcist yet. However, I quite enjoyed this trailer so I’ll probably watch the original before seeing Believer in theaters.

Ellen Burstyn reprises her iconic role as Chris MacNeil, an actress who has been forever altered by what happened to her daughter Regan five decades before, in The Exorcist: Believer. The cast also includes Leslie Odom Jr. as Victor Fielding, Lidya Jewett as Angela Fielding, Olivia Marcum as Katherine, Ann Dowd as Victor and Angela’s neighbor, and Jennifer Nettles and Norbert Leo Butz as Katherine’s parents.

Plot Synopsis:

Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom Jr.) has raised their daughter, Angela (Lidya Jewett) on his own. But when Angela and her friend Katherine (newcomer Olivia Marcum), disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.

Directed by David Gordon Green, The Exorcist: Believer opens in theaters on October 13, 2023.
