‘The Matrix 4’ Casts Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris; Jada Pinkett Smith in Talks to Return

Variety reports that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Neil Patrick Harris have joined the cast of The Matrix 4. Abdul-Mateen II is rumored to be playing either a young Morpheus or someone related to him. Harris has been cast in a “secret” role.

The two will join returning castmembers Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss. Additionally, Deadline reports that Jada Pinkett Smith is in negotiations to return as Niobe, a role she originated in the sequels.

Warner Bros. is keeping plot details close to the chest for the fourth installment in The Matrix franchise. However, we know that the idea was good enough for Lana Wachowski to return as writer and director.

The film is expected to begin production at the beginning of 2020.

Abdul-Mateen II managed to impress me as Black Manta in Aquaman, and a role in The Matrix 4 is another solid step in his career. He is also set to play the lead in the upcoming Candyman film. Meanwhile, anything with Neil Patrick Harris in it has my attention.

We’ll keep you updated on the film as more casting is announced, and plot details get revealed.
