‘The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee’ Trailer: The Famous Aussie Returns

Lionsgate has released an official trailer for The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee. But before you get excited, I will warn you that this is not a Crocodile Dundee sequel. It’s its own thing.

Is it wrong that I sort of enjoyed that? I’m all for actors playing themselves and poking fun at their own expense. And you not only have Paul Hogan doing that, but also Chevy Chase, John Cleese, and Olivia Newton-John! This film is stacked with former ’80s all-stars.

I definitely think the Crocodile Dundee Super Bowl ad from a couple years ago showed Hogan that he still had a fan base. Unfortunately, instead of putting together an official sequel (which would have certainly starred Chris Hemsworth as his son instead of Danny McBride), it looks like we’ll have to settle for this comedy. Which I’m okay with.

Plot Synopsis:

Paul Hogan plays himself in this raucous comedy. Retired in L.A. and overshadowed by his Crocodile Dundee character, Hogan is offered a knighthood by the Queen of England. But before he can accept it, Hogan gets caught up in a series of comical scandals that dominate gossip shows and social media feeds. Can he keep his reputation clean long enough to hang onto his prize — and his dignity? Hilarious celebrity co-stars include Chevy Chase, John Cleese, Olivia Newton-John, and more!
