Unease Welcomes You to ‘The Lodge’ Trailer

One of the most talked about horror films to come out of this year’s Sundance Film Festival is a creepy cabin tale called The Lodge. Some are calling it this year’s Hereditary while giving off The Shining vibes. That is some pretty high praise but will it be able to live up to that kind of hype?

So far reviews have been positive with one reviewer offering up this nugget:

“Every choice in [The Lodge] – every frame, every performance, every sound and edit — is crafted for utmost discomfort, making for a relentless onslaught of unease.”

The directors, Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz, delivered plenty of uncomfortable and tense moments throughout 2014’s Goodnight Mommy and based on this trailer, I’m pretty eager to see if they can match that later this fall.

Plot Synopsis:

Two siblings who are snowed in with Grace, the younger woman that their separated father plans to marry. Just as the kids begin to warm to their stepmother-to-be, events intercede and threaten to dig up psychological demons from Grace’s childhood as a member of a religious cult.

Starring Richard Armitage, Alicia Silverstone, and Riley Keough.
