‘Victorian Psycho’ Trailer Previews Maika Monroe’s New Horror Movie

Bleecker Street has released an official teaser trailer for Victorian Psycho. The upcoming horror thriller was written by Virginia Feito and is based on her 2026 novel of the same name, which was published by WW Norton earlier this month.

Margaret Qualley had originally been cast in the lead role, but she departed the movie in early 2025 and was replaced by Maika Monroe. The rest of the cast includes Thomasin McKenzie, Evie Templeton, Ruth Wilson, and Jason Isaacs.

Plot Synopsis:

Set in Victorian England, Victorian Psycho follows eccentric governess Winifred Notty (Monroe), who arrives at a remote gothic manor to teach the children table manners and educate them about their family’s history, all whilst hiding her psychopathic tendencies. As Winifred assimilates, staff begin to inexplicably disappear, stirring suspicion from the owners that this new governess is not what she seems.

Directed by Zachary Wigon, Victorian Psycho opens in theaters on September 25, 2026.
