The 42nd film in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies line has just revealed a first look image, and who will be voicing the superhero ensemble.
Justice Society: World War II will be headlined by Stana Katic (Castle) and Matt Bomer (White Collar) as Wonder Woman and The Flash. They previously worked together in 2013’s Superman: Unbound.
The rest of the voice cast includes:
- Elysia Rotaru as Black Canary
- Chris Diamantopoulos as Steve Trevor
- Omid Abtahi as Hawkman
- Matthew Mercer as Hourman
- Armen Taylor as Jay Garrick
- Liam McIntyre as Aquaman
- Ashleigh LaThrop as Iris West
- Geoffrey Arend as Charles Halstead/Advisor
- Keith Ferguson as Dr. Fate
- Darin De Paul as Roosevelt
Did you notice it? How there are two Flashs listed? Both Jay Garrick and (by the casting of a voice actor for Iris West) Barry Allen will be appearing in the movie. Bomer will no doubt be voicing the Allen iteration of the character, but he is not traditionally a part of the Justice Society. The inclusion of Aquaman could suggest that time travel will be involved in the storyline. Could this be the first film in a new connected DC animated movie universe? Or am I getting carried away and the film will just have two Flashes operating during World War II?
Jeff Wamester is directing from a script by Meghan Fitzmartin (DC Super Hero Girls) and Jeremy Adams (Batman: Soul of the Dragon).
What do you think of a film focusing on the Justice Society? Will you be watching?
