‘We Can Be Heroes’ Trailer: The Standalone Sequel to ‘Sharkboy and Lavagirl’ Has Arrived

Netflix has released an official trailer for We Can Be Heroes. The film acts as a standalone sequel to The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D and features the next generation of superheroes. So, yeah, that means we got a kid who apparently has shark and lava powers.

Yup, that looks like a Robert Rodriguez kids movie alright. It definitely feels like it would fit in nicely alongside his other 2000s children movies like Spy Kids. Honestly, I hated Sharkboy and Lavagirl and dreaded when it was on TV. I doubt I’ll get around to watching this film. At least, until I have kids and they need to be punished. Then I’ll make them watch Sharkboy and Lavagirl and We Can Be Heroes as a double-feature.

Plot Synopsis:

When alien invaders kidnap Earth’s superheroes, their kids are whisked away to a government safe house. But whip-smart tween Missy Moreno (Yaya Gosselin) will stop at nothing to rescue her superhero dad, Marcus Moreno (Pedro Pascal). Missy teams up with the rest of the superkids to escape their mysterious government babysitter, Ms. Granada (Priyanka Chopra Jonas). If they’re going to save their parents, they’ll have to work together by using their individual powers — from elasticity to time control to predicting the future — and form an out-of-this-world team.

We Can Be Heroes begins streaming December 25, 2020 on Netflix.

What do you guys think? Interested in seeing this at all? Are you a fan of Rodriguez’s other children movies?
