WHAT I WATCHED THIS WEEK…
On Deadly Ground (1994) After having a fairly decent Seagal movie-thon last weekend, we decided to watch this one since neither of us had ever seen it. It’s the only film he’s ever directed and there is a reason why. It’s fucking horrible. It’s got bad cutaways to onlookers during fights, really bad slow motion during said fights and yet somehow he got to direct Michael Caine in a movie worse than Jaws 4. .5/5
Shaft (2000) I can kinda see why this didn’t do well. It’s got a good premise and a solid set up. But then there’s 2 villains and the story gets a little muddled and goes off the rails a bit. Jeffery Wright is pretty great as bad guy #1, the drug dealer Peoples Hernandez. And had no idea Christian Bale was in this as bad guy #2, the racist murderer Walter Wade Jr.
