Weekend Fallout: Everything the Light Touches is Our Wasteland

The Weekend Fallout is an unsafe place to discuss most things in the reel and real world.

Let us know what you have been watching recently on the big and small screen. Excited about any upcoming releases? Doing anything fun this weekend? Simply sitting around in your underwear eating dang quesadillas while watching movies and endlessly scrolling through social media? Let us know below!

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Are there any “great” actors or actresses where you just can’t get into their movies? Even their most liked movies.

Dustin Hoffman would be one for me. Not saying he isn’t in some great movies, but I just don’t care for him or his movies overall.

MOVIES WATCHED THIS WEEK

Death Wish (2018)

“Dr. Paul Kersey is an experienced trauma surgeon, a man who has spent his life saving lives. After an attack on his family, Paul embarks on his own mission for justice.”

It took me three days to finish this movie. I kept getting uninterested and bored. I’m not all for remakes but this seemed like something that could use an updated story. Outside of a few gory moments there wasn’t much here to even care about. A darker more gritty tone would have served the film better. Not AC/DC kicking in the background. I love AC/DC btw. (2.5/5)

Disturbia (2007)

“A teen living under house arrest becomes convinced his neighbor is a serial killer.”

This was just stupid fun that tries to be a youngster take on Rear Window. It’s nowhere near Hitchcock’s level of course, but I feel it’s still worth a watch. Shia does a decent job. I remember thinking he would continue to be a breakout star churning out quality box office hits for the foreseeable future. Ah the good old days. (3.25/5)

White Men Can’t Jump (1992)

“Black and white basketball hustlers join forces to double their chances of winning money on the street courts and in a basketball tournament.”

I will never get tired of this movie. It still cracks me up the moment basketball starts being played. Snipes and Harrelson play off each other extremely well. One of the most 90’s movies there is out there. (4/5)

SHOWS WATCHED THIS WEEK

Stranger Things Season 3.03-08

I enjoyed the season overall as it was much improved over season two, however, my excitement for this series has faded. It is poorly written and most the characters have become annoying. Eleven and Hopper are the only two I even cared about this season. The Steve and Dusty sub plot was beyond ridiculous so much it hurt my liking of the rest of the show at times. If you want to talk spoilers go here.
