WHAT I WATCHED THIS WEEK
Living with Chucky (2022) – I was honestly shocked when I saw there was a doc about this film series. I didn’t understand why there would be one, but I left it on. And I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve really only ever seen the first film and parts of the third. I never really cared to watch the others. But the twist on this doc was that it was made by the daughter of the guy who did the animatronics for the later films. She was a child when he took over on the films and she considers everyone who made the films extended family. And I did not know Brad Douriff’s daughter was in the later films as well. It’s a true love letter to the films and made me want to watch them all. 4/5
Pressure Cooker (2008) – A documentary about inner city kids from Philadelphia taking culinary arts classes from a no holds barred teacher. This teacher may be blunt and runs a boot camp, but she genuinely cares for her students and does her best to make them the best chefs and human beings they can be. By the end of the film you are 100% invested in these kids. I really want to know where they are now. 4.5/5
