Weekend Fallout: You’ve Got a Wasteoid in Me

The Weekend Fallout is an unsafe place to discuss most things in the reel and real world.

Let us know what you have been watching recently on the big and small screen. Excited about any upcoming releases? Doing anything fun this weekend? Simply sitting around in your underwear eating dang quesadillas while watching movies and endlessly scrolling through social media? Let us know below!

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Are you planning on seeing Toy Story 4 this weekend? Who is you favorite character from the series and why? #Siddidnothingwrong

MOVIES WATCHED THIS WEEK

Dragged Across Concrete (2018)

“Once two overzealous cops get suspended from the force, they must delve into the criminal underworld to get their proper compensation.”

This is S. Craig Zahler’s third film and is my third favorite film of his. Don’t get me wrong, Zahler still has his calling cards of strong character work and brutality. Zahler knows how to give everyone on screen that we meet feel like a distinctive personality that you somehow know or at least have a sense of. There are no stock characters. Mel Gibson is solid as a grizzled old cop who plays really well with Vince Vaughn. Tory Kittles does a fine job as the smarter than the average street hustler criminal. (4/5)

Hagazussa (2017)

“Set in a remote mountain village in the 15th-century Alps, and follows Albrun, a goatherder shunned by her fellow townspeople who finds herself in an uneasy friendship with a local villager.”

This is a gorgeous movie. This is also an extremely slow and dreary movie. Think 2015’s The Witch, but much slower and with less wood chopping. It never loses my attention, but nothing fully grabbed me either to make it memorable or a need to ever watch it again. It will, however, make you think twice about having another glass of milk. With this being Lukas Feigelfeld’s directorial debut, I will be keeping my eye for what he does next. (3/5)

Teen Wolf (1985)

“An ordinary high school student discovers that his family has an unusual pedigree when he finds himself turning into a werewolf.”

Just a good old fashion 80’s comedy with crude humor, horrible basketball action (gotta love the cheerleaders cheering on the actual court during play), big hair and all around fun time. Styles stood out to me this time more for some reason, but I have always like his character and his hilarious shirts. I liked how he didn’t get jealous of Scott’s werewolf fame, but simply tried to cash in on his friend. (3.25/5)

SHOWS WATCHED THIS WEEK

Flash Season 5

Much better than season 4 with a pretty wicked villain. New speedster XS is extremely annoying. Also, the normal why doesn’t the villain just kill the heroes when they have the chance or the heroes waiting too long to act in order to catch the villain is some mind-numbingly frustrating tropes these shows fall into. I enjoy the rest of the cast as they carry the show through some of the more lame parts. This show has consistently had some of the best superhero tv show villains.

Jessica Jones Season 3.01-.04

Pretty slow and boring so far. The whole Trish story line is annoying as hell. Hopefully this picks up.
