Even though the DCEU has seemingly been shoved into the trashcan to make way for James Gunn’s future plans for a new rebooted DCU, that doesn’t mean that I can’t dream of a potential Wonder Woman 3 that would close off the Gal Gadot / Patty Jenkins trilogy. I understand that there may be some people who would be completely opposed to this very idea, especially considering how Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) turned out and I can’t say I blame them. To be honest, I’ve never been particularly in fond of what the DCEU became — all I wanted was this one last movie to happen before everything changed. As much as I hated the news of the cancellation of the planned third installment, at this point, all I can do is dream, have hope and put my faith in the universe that maybe — just maybe — somehow, someway, someday this movie will see fruition… even if the final product isn’t what I would want it to be. I’ll still take it.
This is who I would cast in a (potential) Wonder Woman 3.

Wonder Woman
Gal Gadot | Diana Prince
It’s only obvious that I would be keeping Gal Gadot as Diana. Why? Because this would close off the trilogy that she started and I love her in the role, that’s why. Even though I didn’t particularly care for her when she was first cast, she very much grew on me and I highly doubt that I would be able to accept anybody else in the role if she were to get recast. Despite Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) being a disappointment, the fact that she came back for both Shazam: Fury of the Gods (2023) and The Flash (2023) proves that she is still interested in continuing to portray a live action version of Diana and she deserves to continue doing so! I’m still interested in seeing her return in the future … and I’m still holding out hope that she won’t be recast but I won’t be surprised if it ends up happening.

Giganta
Lena Headey | Doris Zuel
This casting is one of the main reasons why I wanted to make this article — and it has everything to do with Cersei Lannister being my favorite character in Game of Thrones (2011-2019). I’m so badly wanting to see Lena Headey in a superhero movie and I don’t know why! Maybe it’s because she played such a menacing villain in that show that I wouldn’t mind seeing her portray another villain. Giganta is one of Diana’s more classic villains and I really wanted to see this character show up in live action; which is why I’m making her one of the main antagonists because she deserves the recognition. Also, I guess she filmed some scenes for Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) that ended up getting left on the cutting room floor and since I’ll never own a copy of that film, I’ll never see them! Oh well!

Dr. Psycho
Peter Dinklage | Edgar Cizko
Another casting from Game of Thrones. Peter Dinklage has said that he refuses to partake in cliche roles that would require him to play the “little” person, but — who cares! Nobody else would be able to pull this character off in both stature and I believe that he would be able to bring the “weird” and “crazy” that Dr. Psycho would need to be portrayed as. This role does have a lot to do with his height and it’s difficult to justify it in any other way. He’s proven himself to be quite capable of being able to play any type of role that he’s ever been in. Also, but based on said stature, it would be interesting to see him team up alongside Giganta and I wouldn’t mind seeing him back alongside Lena Headly after all these years, albeit this time fighting alongside each other instead of against her this time around.

Silver Swan
Saoirse Ronan | Valerie Beaudry
This is a character that I would want the entire plot to revolve around. What is that plot? I don’t know and I don’t care but I have a vague idea that that both Diana and Valerie would become fast friends in some way. Now, I don’t want to get too involved in the plot because that’s not what this article is meant to be about — but I see something happening where Valerie starts working at the museum that Diana works at and she comes across a mythical artifact that would eventually turn her into the Silver Swan. She turns on Diana, blah blah blah, you know the cliches by now, and it’s up to Diana to “save” her in some way. It’s not about defeating her in the sense of leading to her eventual death but bringing her from the dark side back into the light, (so to speak). I just caught Saoirse Ronan in both Lady Bird (2017) and Little Women (2019) and she seems to be more than capable of portraying characters that seem to be sweet and innocent as well as ruthless that you wouldn’t want to mess with, which makes this type of twist, cliche as it is, only that much more interesting!
Who would you fancast in a (hypothetical) Wonder Woman 3?
