Terrence Malick returns to World War II with his latest film A Hidden Life. Check out the first trailer below.

Damn, this looks like it has the potential for some serious accolades come awards season. I didn’t think I would be interested in this when I first clicked play, but that trailer won me over. This isn’t something I’ll see in theaters, but I’ll definitely pick it up on home video to watch with my father.

Plot Synopsis:

Based on real events, from visionary writer-director Terrence Malick, A HIDDEN LIFE is the story of an unsung hero, Franz Jägerstätter, who refused to fight for the Nazis in World War II. When the Austrian peasant farmer is faced with the threat of execution for treason, it is his unwavering faith and his love for his wife Fani and children that keeps his spirit alive.

A Hidden Life hits theaters December 13, 2019.
