After as scene stealing performance in the latest James Bond film, Hollywood is looking to give Ana de Armas her own action franchise to lead.
The actress is currently in talks to take the lead role in Ballerina. The highly anticipated John Wick spin-off focuses on “a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family.”
The character was previously teased in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. She is a ballerina who is also an assassin.
Len Wiseman (Underworld) will direct the action-thriller. The script comes from Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead). The film is in development at Lionsgate, which has distributed all the John Wick films so far.
The budget will be around $50-80 million. Sources state Keanu Reeves and Anjelica Huston might make cameo appearances. If Reeves appears, it would be the first time him and de Armas have starred together since the 2015 erotic thriller Knock Knock.
In addition to Ballerina, Lionsgate has John Wick: Chapter 4 in post-production and is currently filling out its main cast for the prequel limited-series The Continental.
John Wick: Chapter 4 hits theaters on May 27, 2022.
