Colin Farrell is ready to trade hours of prosthetics and makeup for a DC role that is a bit easier to prepare for every morning.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Farrell is in negotiations to star in DC Studios‘ upcoming World War II action movie Sgt. Rock as its title character. Luca Guadagnino is attached to direct the DC Universe installment from a screenplay by Justin Kuritzkes, who penned Guadagnino’s Challengers and Queer.

Farrell was recently seen in an entirely different DC project (and universe), The Penguin, which is part of Matt Reeves’ The Batman Epic Crime Saga. The actor, who portrays Oz Cobb / Penguin, received widespread acclaim for his performance, earning himself a SAG Award, Golden Globe Award, and Critics Choice Award, among other awards. He is expected to reprise the role in Reeves’ forthcoming sequel to The Batman.

Sgt. Rock Could Film This Summer

Daniel Craig was reportedly the original choice for Sgt. Franklin John Rock, although DC Studios head James Gunn shared after the actor had supposedly dropped out of the project that Craig had never been officially offered the role. Jeremy Allen White was subsequently eyed for the role, but it seems like it’s Farrell’s to lose now.

If Farrell signs on to play the tough-as-nails leader of Easy Company, the combat unit fighting Nazi forces in Europe, Sgt. Rock will be on track to shoot this summer in DC Studios’ production hub in England.
