‘Coming 2 America’ Trailer: A Sequel is in the Heir

Prime Video has released an official trailer for Coming 2 America. It is the long-awaited sequel to the 1988 comedy hit Coming to America. Eddie Murphy returns as prince-turned-king Akeem of the African nation of Zamunda.

The trailer doesn’t spoil or reveal much about the upcoming sequel (which is surprising considering how much trailers reveal nowadays). It looks like King Akeem needs a male heir, and apparently he has one in America.

The rest of the trailer shows that Murphy and Hall will be playing multiple characters again. Is that shtick overused after thirty years? Perhaps, but it still got a chuckle from me.

Plot Synopsis:

Set in the lush and royal country of Zamunda, newly-crowned King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began.

Coming 2 America begins streaming March 5, 2021 on Prime Video.
