If former Bond girl Trina Parks has her way, Sydney Sweeney will be starring in the next James Bond movie, likely opposite Callum Turner as 007.
Parks holds the distinction of being the first black Bond girl, starring as the assassin Thumper in 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever, opposite Sean Connery as James Bond/007. In a recent interview with The Telegraph, the actor explained why she thought Sweeney had the right qualities for a modern Bond girl.
“Sydney would do a wonderful job. She has done quite a range of acting things and basically has got ownership of her sexual identity. Not only is she a talented actress, but [she] has this Hollywood classic kind of style and poise, which really works for her projects and brand,” Parks explained.
“I feel for modern cinema and filmmaking and the future of Bond, audiences want to see a woman opposite Bond who is independent and has ownership of her sexuality. Sydney has those qualities. The days of women just falling into bed with him have changed. To have the girl of the moment in Bond would be good. She definitely has a look that would fit into the Bond world.”
Of course, Parks then admitted that she doesn’t “know much about her work,” but knew “she obviously can act because of the type of projects she has appeared in.” I mean, if Zendaya can win an Emmy for Euphoria, I guess that means Sweeney could have too, right?
Sweeney has actually addressed being a popular choice to play a Bond girl. In October 2025, she told Variety that she has “always been a huge fan of the franchise, and I’m excited and curious to see what they do with it.” She remained open to starring in Bond 26, noting that she’d need to see a script first, while also saying she’d probably “have more fun as James Bond” than a Bond girl.
We’ll see if Steven Knight’s Bond 26 screenplay ends up landing on Sweeney’s desk. With Amazon MGM Studios narrowing in on an actor for 007 (and some reports claim the studio has found its next Bond), casting for the rest of the movie will be next. Denis Villeneuve is directing Bond 26, which is expected to begin production in 2027.
