With word that Genndy Tartakovsky‘s Popeye is back in development, I thought it’d be fun to look at the test footage Sony Animation released five years ago. The project, originally announced in 2012, is now set up at King Features. It is unknown if Sony is still involved, but Tartakovsky still has a deal with the company in place.
The animation test features the voices of Grey DeLisle and Tom Kenny.
I really hope Tartakovsky is able to bring his interpretation of Popeye to the big screen. The animation test reveals a lot of prop comedy that I think is missing in modern animated films.
