Casting Updates: ‘Reacher’ Season 3, ‘The Accountant 2’, ‘You’ Season 5, ‘Outcome’ & ‘SNL 1975’

Here are some casting updates for some upcoming projects that I found interesting. Enjoy.

Brian Tee, Johnny Berchtold, Roberto Montesinos, and Daniel David Stewart have all boarded the cast of Reacher Season 3. Tee will portray “Quinn who is described as a physically imposing and intimidating character. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army whom Reacher (Alan RItchson) investigated ten years ago when he sold military secrets to hostile nations.”

Berchtold plays “Richard Beck, a sensitive and artistic college student who lost his mother when he was young and is the only son of businessman Zachary Beck (Anthony Michael Hall). Five years ago, he was the victim of a traumatic kidnapping that left him mutilated.”

Montesinos plays Guillermo Villanueva, “a DEA agent on the verge of retirement who is the mentor and father figure of Agent Susan Duffy (Sonya Cassidy),” while Stewart plays Steven Elliot, “a clean-cut rookie DEA agent. He is a lovable guy who’s fresh-faced, new to the job and still learning.”

Production is currently underway on Reacher Season 3 in Toronto. The upcoming second will be based on the seventh book in Lee Child’s global best-selling series, Persuader, which sees Reacher go undercover to rescue an informant held by a haunting foe from his past. | Source: Deadline

The Accountant 2 is finally making it out of development hell. Ben Affleck (Christian Wolff), Jon Bernthal (Brax), J.K. Simmons (Ray King), and Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Marybeth Medina) have closed deals to return for the long-gestating sequel, which will once again be directed by Gavin O’Connor.

Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity serves as the studio for the sequel and set the project up at Amazon MGM after acquiring sequel rights from Warner Bros. The script was penned by the original film’s screenwriter, Bill Dubuque.

In the upcoming sequel, per the synopsis, “when Medina’s former boss is killed by unknown assassins, she’s forced to contact Christian to solve the murder. With the help of his estranged but highly lethal brother Brax, Chris applies his brilliant mind and less-than-legal methods to piece together the unsolved puzzle. As they get closer to the truth, the trio draw the attention of some of the most ruthless killers alive — all intent on putting a stop to their search.” | Source: Deadline

You Season 5 has just added its first new cast member. Madeline Brewer (The Handmaid’s Tale) has been in the Netflix show’s fifth and final season in the series regular role, Bronte, who is described as “an enigmatic and free-spirited playwright who comes to work for Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) at his bookstore. As the two connect over literature and loss, she stokes in him a nostalgia for his former self, causing him to question everything his life has become.” | Source: Deadline

Matt Bomer, Keanu Reeves, Jonah Hill, and Cameron Diaz are all set to star in the dark comedy Outcome for Apple Studios. Hill will also direct.

Co-written by Hill and Ezra Woods, Outcome follows “Reef (Reeves), a damaged Hollywood star who must dive into the dark depths of his past to confront his demons and make amends after he is extorted with a mysterious video clip.” | Source: Deadline

Nicholas Braun, Tommy Dewey, and Nicholas Podany are the latest additions to the cast of Sony Pictures’ SNL 1975, which is based on the real-life behind-the-scenes accounts of the opening episode of Saturday Night Live.

Braun will play Jim Henson, Dewey will play Michael O’Donoghue, and Podany will play Billy Crystal. Jason Reitman is directing from a script he co-wrote with Gil Kenan.
