Down the Tubes: The Anime that Changed Everything

Akira, along with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Toy Story, is among a small handful of animated movies that changed everything. Regarded by many critics as a landmark anime film, Akira might be the most important foreign film of the 80’s. Before this film came out, the only animated films Western audiences had any access to were Disney or their shitty competitors.

Super Eye Patch Wolf’s video ‘The Impact of Akira: The Film That Changed Everything’ covers in detail how its popularity opened up an entirely new world of cinema for Americans. How it revolutionized and popularized anime and manga and created the first legitimate threat for the omnipresent House of Mouse.

What did you think about Super Eye Patch Wolf’s video? Have you seen Akira or any other anime?
