Adam Driver doesn’t think a return to a galaxy far, far away is in the cards anymore, after Disney and Lucasfilm rejected Star Wars: The Hunt for Ben Solo.
In an interview with The Rich Eisen Show podcast (via Deadline), Driver dismissed the possibility of reprising his role as Ben Solo / Kylo Ren in a future Star Wars project. “Yeah, yeah, it’s over,” Driver said. “No more Star Wars. We tried. We tried to do one more, but they were like, no, he’s dead.”
Last year, it was revealed that Driver had developed a concept for a movie set after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker with Steven Soderbergh. Lucasfilm liked the idea and tapped Scott Z. Burns to write a script. Unfortunately, Disney executives Bob Iger and Alan Bergman canceled the movie, which would have been called The Hunt for Ben Solo, as they “didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive” following The Rise of Skywalker.
“We got a script together that was really good with Scott Burns and Rebecca Blunt,” Driver confirmed to Eisen. “We all worked on it. It was awesome. It was really cool. […] They didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that.”
After The Hunt for Ben Solo was revealed to the public, Star Wars fans took to the sky (literally) to try and convince Disney to resurrect the Star Wars spinoff. Unfortunately, nothing has emerged yet, and, based on Driver’s comments, likely won’t.
“If they wanted to, fine, but it’s not our call,” the actor said about Kylo Ren returning. “I think the ship has sailed, though.”
Driver is currently starring in James Gray’s Paper Tiger along with Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller. Set in 1986 Queens, NY, the film follows two brothers who become entangled in a scheme that ends up involving the Russian mafia. Neon will release Paper Tiger in theaters on November 13, 2026.
