‘Fast & Furious 9’ Adds Michael Rooker and Francis Ngannou

Fast and Furious 9 has been filming for almost two months already, but that hasn’t stopped them from adding cast members.

Deadline reports that Michael Rooker will be playing a character named Buddy. That’s it, that’s all we got. Is he part of Mr. Nobody’s team? Is he working with Cipher? Is he another member of the Shaw family? The possibilities are endless, but with Rooker only just joining the cast, don’t expect him to have too large of a role. Deadline calls it a “last minute addition”.

Francis Ngannou, the #2 fighter in the heavyweight division of UFC, has also joined the cast. He follows in the footsteps of two other UFC fighters, Gina Carano and Ronda Rousey, who played key roles in Fast and Furious 6 and Furious 7 respectively. So it’s highly likely Ngannou will be used for a key fight scene where he goes toe-to-toe with Vin Diesel (because he’d kick the shit out of any of the the other males in this film… oh wait, John Cena is in this. Okay, Ngannou versus Cena would be cool).

Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Charlize Theron, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Helen Mirren are all returning from previous installments for Fast 9.

Fast and Furious 9 hits theaters May 22, 2020.

I’m excited to see Rooker interact with the Fast family. Who do you want to see him play?
