Vin Diesel has just revealed a couple of actors returning for Fast 9, currently in production. Diesel took to Instagram to reveal that Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren are reprising their roles from The Fate of the Furious as Cipher and Mama Shaw.
Theron’s Cipher was the villain of F8, a cyberterrorist who kidnapped Dom’s baby son and forced him to work against his family. She survived the events of the eighth film escaping capture by jumping out of a plane with a parachute.
Fast and Furious superfan Mirren appeared in F8 as the mother of Owen (Luke Evans, who also had a cameo in F8) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham). She is set to reprise the role in this summer’s Hobbs & Shaw as well.
Michelle Rodriguez is also set to return as Letty, and John Cena is one of the new castmembers.
I’m excited to see Mirren back and hopefully she gets the chance to drive a car too. As for Theron, let’s hope Cipher is fleshed out a bit more, because honestly there was nothing memorable about her.
