‘Flamin’ Hot’ Trailer: An Upcoming Biopic About Flamin’ Hot Cheetos

Searchlight Pictures has released an official trailer for Flamin’ Hot, an upcoming biopic about the origins of America’s favorite snack, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. Let’s take a look.

Okay, now that’s a crazy story… that may or may not be true. Flamin’ Hot is based on the memoir A Boy, a Burrito and a Cookie: From Janitor to Executive by Montañez, as well as on the life stories of Montañez and his wife Judy. Now a quick Google search will reveal that Frito-Lay disputes Montañez’s claim that he invented the popular Cheetos flavor. Who’s telling the truth? I don’t know. But either way, it’s still quite the success story. (Montañez did in fact rise from a floor-level position to a marketing executive at Frito-Lay where he was involved in pitching new products.)

Flamin’ Hot stars Jesse Garcia, Annie Gonzalez, Dennis Haysbert, Emilio Rivera, Tony Shalhoub, Matt Walsh, Pepe Serna, Bobby Soto, Jimmy Gonzales, Brice Gonzalez, Vanessa Martinez, Fabian Alomar, Mario Ponce, and Hunter Jones.

Plot Synopsis:

Flamin’ Hot is the inspiring true story of Richard Montañez (Jesse Garcia), the Frito Lay janitor who channeled his Mexican American heritage and upbringing to turn the iconic Flamin’ Hot Cheetos into a snack that disrupted the food industry and became a global pop culture phenomenon.

Directed by Eva Longoria, Flamin’ Hot begins streaming on Hulu and Disney+ on June 9, 2023.
